Virtus Appoints Eric Montgomery Senior Vice President, Commercial
Former Risk Strategies regional leader brings more than 15 years of experience to Virtus’s growing commercial client service organization.
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., October 29, 2026. Virtus, an insurance brokerage and consulting firm, has named Eric Montgomery Senior Vice President, Commercial, strengthening its commercial property and casualty leadership as the firm expands its industry-specialized business.
Montgomery joined October 19 and leads Virtus’s commercial P&C client service teams. His appointment follows the addition of President Matt Summers earlier this year and reflects the firm’s investment in both attracting new business and building the expertise and service capacity to support it.

Founded in 2013, Virtus has grown from a real estate-focused brokerage into a firm serving businesses across multiple industries, alongside employee benefits and private client practices. Its growth strategy centers on recruiting experienced professionals, expanding its specialty capabilities, and equipping teams to compete for increasingly complex accounts.
Montgomery’s role connects that growth strategy to the client experience. He will focus on developing commercial service talent, strengthening technical expertise, and helping teams deliver consistent advice and execution as the practice grows.
Montgomery brings more than 15 years of experience in insurance broking and financial institutions. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and West Region Commercial Client Service Director at Risk Strategies, leading account executives and account management teams serving clients across the western United States. Previously, he spent more than a decade at WTW, advancing from Associate Client Manager to Director of Client Service.
