Industry veteran brings extensive experience in complex risk, specialty brokerage, and business growth
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — August 3, 2026 — Virtus today announced the appointment of Matt Summers as President, further strengthening the firm's executive leadership team as it continues its rapid expansion and investment in building the next generation of insurance brokerage.
Summers brings over 15 years of experience advising clients, leading specialized practices, and building high-performing teams at several of the insurance industry’s largest and most innovative organizations.
Most recently, Summers served as Head of Construction & Surety at Newfront, where he led the strategy and growth of the firm’s construction and surety business. He previously held senior leadership roles at Marsh and Willis Towers Watson, advising clients on complex construction, real estate, and infrastructure risks across the country.
As President, Summers will work closely with Virtus Founder and CEO Andrew Gray and the firm’s leadership team to advance its growth strategy, expand its specialty capabilities, and strengthen its presence in key markets, including Texas and the broader Southwest.
